PTO SECRETARY MINUTES
April 8, 2009

Meeting called to order:  7:05 PM
Persons in attendance:  9
Secretary’s report:  Motion to accept, made and motion passed.
Treasurer’s report:  Motion to accept, made and motion passed.

Correspondence/Requests for Funding:
*Request for donation from the business office:  The parent of an Acushnet resident who attends NBHS would like a donation to the “after prom” party—denied.
*Request from Noah Miranda (5th grader) for donation to help pay for his involvement in “People to People” in Australia.  A motion was made to donate $50.  Motion to accept, made and motion passed.

Old Business:
*The ATA Family Fun Day was held, making $1164.23 profit (to ATA, not PTO)—expenses were $148.77.  They would like to see more PTO involvement.  All FMS students who helped will get $5 in “Ford Bucks” or a school t-shirt.  Ford Bucks are to purchase things in the school store.
*Sleepover was successful, well organized.
*Dodge ball Tournament made $616 profit, selling 386 in food and 19 shirts.

New Business:
*Lisa Carvalho suggested we do a Gong Show next year.
*A person is needed to call businesses for donations for baskets/Chinese Auctions—item tabled until May meeting.
*Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8):  Parents will be asked to donate items each day—items vary by daily theme.  Anne will come up with apple/appreciation paper for students to fill in during library class at AES.  Mrs. Olivier will handle the library at Ford.  Letter will go home 27th or 28th to request food.  COORDINATOR NEEDED!  Motion was made to approve $850 for food and raffles.  Motion to accept, made and motion passed.
*Fourth grade shirts—we have nobody to run the program.  A letter will go home.
*A parent survey will be made to find out needs.  Michelle and Anne will create.
*PTO Newsletter will be handled by Sabre.

AES News:  No administration present.
 
FMS News: 
*MCAS is over.  Mr. Green reported that there were only 11 absences total!
*Talent Show is 4/16.  Donations are accepted at the door.  Winners get gift cards to Wal-Mart.  Proceeds go to the end of the year party.
*The QSP magazine drive was low this year.
*The State House field trip is in May.
*There will be a slide show that morphs pictures of students from 5th to 8th grade, to be shown at the end of the year.
