Ms. Kimberli Bettencourt was appointed as Director of Student Services and Special Education of Acushnet Public Schools in 2019.  She was previously the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services for New Bedford Public Schools for 8 years and the Day School Director at the Schwartz Center for Children for 20 years. 

Ms. Bettencourt holds a Master's degree in Special Education from Boston College, a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Westfield State University, and her Early Childhood Administration Certification from Wheelock College.  She is the school committee chairperson of the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and vice-chairperson of the City of New Bedford Commission for Citizens with Disabilities. 

Ms. Bettencourt was born and raised in Acushnet and values the education she received at both Acushnet Elementary School and Ford Middle School.   She is a proud graduate of Fairhaven High School. 

Ms. Bettencourt recognizes that all students are entitled to an appropriate  public education and works to ensure that all Acushnet students receive the necessary services and supports to thrive in our school district.
