A Walk Down Memory Lane at AES!
Acushnet Elementary School was honored to welcome back a special group of former Wildcats for our annual Senior Walkthrough! Seniors from Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, New Bedford High School, Fairhaven High School, Old Rochester Regional High School, and Bishop Stang returned to the halls where their educational journeys began.
As they walked through the building in their caps and gowns, our current students and staff cheered them on and celebrated their accomplishments. It was a meaningful opportunity for our younger Wildcats to see what hard work, perseverance, and dedication can lead to.
We are so proud of these graduates and wish them all the best as they begin their next chapter. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!

STEM Learning in Action at P. J. Keating!
Our 4th grade students had an incredible opportunity to visit P.J. Keating's rock quarry and experience real-world STEM learning firsthand!
Students participated in hands-on activities, including cookie mining, which taught them about the mining process while practicing problem-solving and engineering skills. They also toured the quarry and got an up-close look at the equipment used in the industry.
One of the highlights of the day was receiving their very own hard hats and exploring the quarry as young scientists and engineers!
A huge thank you to P. J. Keating for being such a wonderful community partner and for providing our students with an engaging and memorable learning experience.

Our preschool students had an amazing time dressing up and bringing their imaginations to life! From firefighters and police officers to chefs, doctors, and more, our classrooms were filled with creativity, role-playing, and big smiles.
Through dramatic play, students explore the world around them, build social skills, and express their ideas in fun and meaningful ways. We loved seeing all of their creativity shine! 💙

Every Friday at Acushnet Elementary School, we celebrate students who have earned 10 or more units in Lexia! During lunch, the names of these hardworking students are read aloud to recognize their dedication and progress in reading.
One lucky student also gets to choose a song for our cafeteria dance party—and students LOVE ending lunch with some dancing, music, and fun with their friends! 💃🕺

Our preschoolers in Ms. Carvalho’s class have been learning all about what plants need to grow and stay alive—and they put their knowledge into action!
Students participated in a fun, hands-on activity where they planted grass seeds in soil, watered them, and placed them by a sunny window to help them grow. The excitement was contagious as students explored what it takes to care for living things!
The best part? Once the grass grows, students will get to give it a “haircut”! ✂️🌿

Our third grade students at Acushnet Elementary School recently participated in the Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) Program! This valuable program allows students to learn about fire and life safety from trained Firefighter-Educators right in the classroom.
Students explored important topics such as the 9-1-1 system, “Stop, Drop, and Roll,” and household safety—including cooking, electricity, cleaning products, and power equipment. They also completed an assignment to create a Home Fire Drill, encouraging important safety conversations with their families.

AES Wildcats showed amazing acts of kindness during our celebration of National Kindness Week. Students felt what it means to be kind by writing notes of appreciation to a special friend in their lives. Words like “You are a creative writer,” “I love playing tag with you at recess,” “You have a beautiful smile,” were written and delivered at recess. Wow! Wildcats sure know how to be kind and uplifting!

Students in Ms. Coelho and Ms. Rebello’s class completed a cross-curricular unit in which they made their own zoos. Kids had a budget to buy their animals, measured to build enclosures, mapped it all out, and became an expert on one of their animals. Then, students from each class got to teach each other about their animals.
