🌱✂️ What do plants need to grow? Just ask our preschoolers! Ms. Carvalho’s class has been learning all about what plants need to grow and survive. To bring this science lesson to life, students planted grass seeds and watched their little green friends sprout over time. To wrap up the unit in a fun and engaging way, students got to give their grass a haircut—practicing their scissor skills while learning about plant care! 📚💙 Full Circle Moments at AES 💙📚 During our recent Day of Service, first graders had the special opportunity to read aloud to volunteers from Fairhaven High School — all proud former AES Wildcats! Each first grader chose a book to share, answered thoughtful questions from their high school buddy, and created a personalized bookmark to remember the moment. It was a day filled with smiles, pride, and a beautiful reminder of how our students grow and give back. 🥚🎨 Cracking Open Creativity in Kindergarten! 🎨🥚 Before spring break, our kindergarteners really cracked up! They enjoyed *The Great EGGscape* by Jory John—a tale full of friendship, adventure, and learning to break out of your shell! After reading, students created their colorful egg characters inspired by the book’s hilarious cast. Each egg's personality reminds us of the importance of sticking together and helping our friends. Science fun in pre-school! Our littlest Wildcats tested whether snow feels colder with bare hands or "bear claws" (gloves made of Crisco). They were amazed to discover they could barely feel the cold through their bear claws! This simple experiment helped them learn about hibernation and how winter animals stay warm. Literary critics in the making! Our AES students participated in the 2025 Wildcat Caldecott program, where they weren't just learning about award-winning picture books - they cast their own votes! After exploring beautiful illustrations and engaging stories from this year's Caldecott finalists, including "Millie" and "Roar, Choo!", students thoughtfully evaluated each book and submitted their ballots. What a wonderful way to develop critical thinking skills while fostering a deeper appreciation for literature and art.
